Short's Burger Shine - ia City

Had a great burger and a great time! Efficient and attentive staff, top-notch burgers. Edit: Came back another time over a year later, WOW! Still the same perfect burger and PHENOMENAL service. The staff is awesome! Seriously one of my favorite burger joints anywhere in America, and I've tried a lot!

I stopped into this place a few days ago. The burger itself was good, but the lettuce was weird and wilted. I had to pull some of it off. Just had kind of an odd texture to it. Allegedly there were caramelized onions on it. I think I saw some, but could not taste them. Fairly average burger for an above average price. The fries would have been great with less salt. Hand cut and perfectly cooked, then ruined with what seemed to be a cup of salt. The server was all right, but seemed to be more interested in her phone than anything else. I had to get up and let her know I was ready to go and wanted to pay as she seemed so detached from her job. Over all, an okay experience. I doubt I'll return. It wasn't terrible, just flat out average and there are better places to go in Iowa City.

It is a burger place with a great bar. What else could you ask for in a place that has burger in the name? Unfortunately there is no longer a shine , but historically there was on the building.

One of, if not the best burgers in Iowa City. A decent value for the quality of the hamburger. Would have rated 5 stars, but the cheese curds appetizers were overcooked and greasy.

The place was a little small, counters were dirty, the burger was well seasoned but over cooked. The bar tender was great, the beers she suggested were really good. It could be a great spot thats in a great location.
