On the second day in our holiday quarter, we wanted to go to the neighboring besenwirtschaft, which had set up a number of tables in front of the house. While we had to organize different things, even before the official opening time at 6:00 p.m., there was noticeable confusion of voices to us, a view from the balcony showed that all tables were already occupied in the atrium. No problem for us, as we wanted to go in anyway due to the unsteady and quite cool weather. Already at the approach we saw two operators rushing from inside to outside and back. A welcome therefore did not take place when entering the guest room, and the two ladies simply had to do too much. We looked around in the two-part guest room, noticed some tables with “reserved” bites and then looked for a free table in the barely occupied front room. The menus were on the tables, so we could study the offer in peace. There was one side with cold vasper offers and another side with warm dishes. But also the warm foods had more the character of snacks, a carving “Wiener Art” with variable supplements was already the end of the bar. Furthermore, of course, some wines from the Hagnauer Winzergenossenschaft were in the outskirts (Obviously, most, if not all, winegrowers in Kippenhausen belong to this cooperative in the neighboring town, and also some home-fired distillates. After all, an operation on its way back from outside came to our table, greeted us kindly and asked for our wishes. We both ordered the “Schnitzel Wiener Art”, Madame with potato salad, I with fries. Madame ordered a glass of Grauburgunder (0.2l for 4.90 € , I ordered a Late Burgundy (0.2l for 4.80 € , which was also available in our apartment in the same provenance. The service thanked and disappeared towards the kitchen, and it took only a few minutes until the wine was served by her colleague. At the first swallow we noticed that both wines were too warm in our opinion, and both were tastefully a little flat. After just a reasonable waiting period, the plates were then served with the carvings. The meat was neatly flat knocked, the panning released beautifully blassy from the surface. The taste was good and the quality of the meat was perfect. Also the fries on my plate did not give rise to complaints, they were fresh, hot and crispy, and also a desalination was not necessary. The potato salad at Madame was also in principle good, but it was seasoned with much must for our taste and therefore fell in disgrace. Conclusion: Ambience in order, the food offer is rather scarce and the wines are not necessarily according to our taste. This does not tempt a repetition of the visit.
