Mt. Index Brewery Distillery

We stopped in for a post-hike beer and this little gem was a fantastic find. The view is beautiful and the beer is delicious!

The first time my husband and I went in there, they were just opening the shop. We bought a bottle of a coffee liquor. what a wonderful product. Now I see they have beer on tap.. we will have to go back and check it out. Great place with a great view of our mountains in Index.

Several years ago Steve and I were coming home from Leavenworth and kind of got surprised that there was a brewery in a town that seems slightly remote. It is by no means as remote as one can get but you definitely got lots of space out here. At the time we were too tired to stop and get a round of beer here but I made a bookmark for a return trip. The other weekend I finally made a return trip back. This time we were coming back from Wenatchee. I was all about stopping here... the other half was tired and wanted to keep moving... but he remembered the itinerary and we made one last stop before heading home. It's a little confusing where to go to get into the place if you haven't been here before. To get to the actual tap room you need to go back around the building to you right. If you see a pool table sitting outside (Probably put away during the winter) then you are on the right track! Steve and I got two different beers here. I got the Abbey Ale with a smoked Alderwood ice cube put in it. This is the kind of creativity that I'm looking for and in this case it exceeded my expectations. Steve got a chocolate mint stout which had a great flavor to it! I have had stouts flavored like this before. The ones I had usually had a rich body to them but this was a bit more thin. Other than that this beer was very good! The taproom is small... and the place was only slightly busy but I could see it get very busy if a bunch of people come through here and have the mind to stop all at once for a beer! Great place! I would love to come back and will keep an eye out for what they will be putting out on tap in the future!

Funding a brewery in the middle of nowhere? You are definitely in the Pacific Northwest. While the choice is limited, all of their beers are very good. Their treated us with free blubbery shortcakes (yum) and we enjoyed some nice seating in a backyard. FYI entrance is at the back from parking lot. Go right and turn
