Upon walking through the doors, my assumption was correct; this was a grocery store. However, placed in the back, behind all of the registers and aisles, was a small bar area with a grill behind it. This is where the proverbial magic must happen. I walked up to a sign that had three menu items: Taco, Burrito, or Torta. I opted for the asada burrito and a Coke in a glass bottle. One burrito and one coke for $5? The price seemed to good to be true and if there is one thing I know, it is that price usually reflects quality of food. But not so fast, I quickly found myself saying as I watched them grill the tortilla and throw a juicy, delicious looking meat into the middle. Each spoon full carefully placed as to not overload one end of my lunch. Next came a slice of tomato, beautifully green lettuce, and cheese. Just when I thought he was done, I watched as they cut open a fresh avocado and scoop out half for my burrito. It was then gently rolled and handed across the counter to me. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also much more than I would have imagined for the price I paid. I sat down thoroughly impressed with what I had just witnessed and noticed to my left two sauces: one red and one green. I always opt for red. A home made smokey hot sauce that complemented the already delicious burrito beautifully. But I was not done. I noticed a small tin sitting next to me which upon further inspection revealed to be full of grilled serano peppers. Shoving one of them into half of my burrito to give it that extra kick I felt it needed. I sat and ate while time stopped and my religious experience continued. Afterwards, I threw away my bottle, thanked the chef, and maneuvered around the customers and their shopping carts. Needless to say, I will be making a trip back soon.
Had the carne asana tacos.. Awesome! And cheap! Salsa was good and super spicy. I couldn't find it initially, until the dude next to me passed it over to me. I will be going back. Plus the grocery store is a nice plus. Might buy some marinated meats next visit.
Fast and Tasty and Cheap. This little eatery is inside a mexican grocery store. They offer tacos, tortas and burritos, with your choice of fillings which were carne asada, chicken, beef somethered with onions and maybe beef tongue...it looked like it may have had an X through that choice so not too sure. They also offer a corn dish I saw being served and topped with different toppings. They have some drinks there that are in cold dispensers that keep the liquid moving...not sure what the name of those are. But they offered pinapple water, cantelope water, rice water, and jamaica water. None of these looked like waters, but more so juices. Now the rice water was Horchata and it was amazing!! The workers spoke very little english and were kind and the food was really great and filling. Cheap prices too. Not too much room to sit. Will definitely be returning to this one!
Great service (depending on your waitresses, Daniela always goes above and beyond), restaurant is always super clean, not overpriced at all and food always delicious. Only thing I dislike is the green and red taco sauce, green not spicy and flavorless. Red sauce is spicy but not much favor. It would be nice if they had some tomatillo tacos sauce instead of chipotle.
