Some of the staff could benefit from a bit more training in presenting dishes properly, as there were no warnings about the ingredients. My wife enjoyed the beans on her plate so much that she ordered a side of them. As for me, I tried the machaca, which consisted of dried beef, Roma tomatoes, and paprika. I couldn't quite identify the spice, but it had a musty taste, reminiscent of an old cellar. Even after adding salsa and wrapping it in a tortilla, the musty flavor still came through. Overall, we were very disappointed with the meal. If you go, stick to the tequila and enjoy the chips and salsa instead.
While it may not be the top spot for fine dining, this restaurant offers a fun atmosphere, attentive servers, and tasty Tex-Mex cuisine for what it is.
Dining here is always a pleasure. The guacamole is generous and delicious. They also offer a wonderful selection of tequila.
We just drove through the city and looked for a restaurant that was not touristy and super expensive. this place matched the bill the margaritas were handmade and quite well with some unusual choices and a beautiful variety of tequilas. the ceviche appetizer was fresh and tasty and the fish tacos were also better than usual. the place was very, very loud, but do not know if that is the norm. the service was good and the prices were reasonable. we had difficulty finding the restaurant because there was something hidden in an old building would not be a problem for locals. overall it was not amazing, but it fulfilled our expectations.
La Margarita is a neiborhood gem and one that I return to frequently. The food is fresh and nicely presented, the service responsive and eclectic at times in a fun way, and the ambiance very nice. The outdoor area where we ate this past time is sheltered from the busy street and is quiet enough to enjoy a relaxing low volume conversation. One of my return-to places for sure. Also, with the Cultural Trail running right past the restaurant, biking for 10 ' from downtown is not only easy, but fun, safe and convenient.
