The green beans were the best green beans we have ever had at a BBQ restaurant and the mac n cheese was creamy. The brisket tacos was a very nice surprise. The smoked brisket was tender, juicy and very flavorful. You get a lot of brisket on the taco. We will be going back!
Great local place to get BBQ. We had the ribs pulled pork. The ribs had a good smoke/Char and pulled clean off the bone. The pulled pork was flavorful and moist. It had a few bones in it, the BBQ sauce was great. We also ordered the Banana bread pudding, it was fantastic. I would get 2 if you don?t like sharing. We ordered right around 5pm on a Saturday and they had already sold out of Mac and Cheese and corn casserole so plan accordingly. We will definitely come back and regret we waited so long to try the BBQ.
Smokin' Barrel BBQ is a fabulous place for a good barbecue meal. It is located in an unusual spot, which I didn't expect, being situated within the grounds of Camp Seritoma. Don't let this deter you follow the signs and drive on back for some fantastic BBQ. The service was great, and the food was fabulous. I believe there is indoor seating, but we opted to drive to the nearby Southeastway Park and eat al fresco. We got the family size brisket, which came with 2 pint sized sides and a banana pudding. The brisket was beautifully flavored (which I enjoyed in spite of my recent decrease in olfactory ability due to covid) and was very tender. Not the dry kind that you need to douse in BBQ sauce just to get it down, nope this was tender and flavorful. Their sides were a bit different than the typical bbq joint sides in that they came with a bit of a twist. We took the suggestion of the lady who took our order and got the corn casserole and the pleasantly spicy green beans, which were a great pairing to the brisket. I'm from the west side of Indy, but I'll head back to the east side if for no other reason than to get some Smokin' Barrel BBQ! It's the best barbecue I've found so far in the Indianapolis area, and it's a local, family operated business. Go get you some!
I had the brisket with green beans and potatoe salad. The meat was tender and the bark crispy. The sides were pretty good. They sprinkle salt and pepper on the food which I think gives them a bit of a signature flavor
Brought the family to Smokin Barrel last night and we were not disappointed. We of course tried the pork, and brisket which were fantastic, probably the best I've had. I recommend also trying the chicken wings they were amazing. The staff was incredibly pleasant too and service was terrific. We'll definitely be coming back.
