Went on a solo adventure today to this little restaurant by my job since I was running early and decided to eat there. I gotta start by saying that the decor is very nice I really enjoy all the colors and really everything that they did with the place. The service was great I was greeted by all the people working there and once seated they were all very attentive. I ordered a chile verde wet burrito which came with rice beans pork in salsa and covered in cheese and more salsa. Everything about the burrito was great so much flavor and big portion. Will be visiting frijoles more often great service and great food
I would give 3.5! I love little hole in the wall restaurants and that's exactly the vibe it gives when driving by. It has a really cute and cozy interior. We got chips salsa and nachos to start. I got a 2-combo plate of 1 red enchilada and carne asada sope, another 2-combo plate with a red and green enchilada, and a carne asada quesadilla with horchata and lemonade. My only complaints are the cheese and red enchilada sauce. The cheese was a thinly shredded Colby Jack (probably the Mexican blend) and I didn't appreciate that. They used that cheese in the nachos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. I prefer thick white cheese, like a Monterey Jack in my Mexican food. The cheese they used made the food feel unauthentic and quickly put together. The red enchilada sauce taste just like tomato sauce. It had no tang or spice. Just tomato sauce. If they fixed these few things I think they would have an even greater potential. Everything else was pretty good! The rice and beans were good, not the best but definitely passable, the sope was thick and layered tall, the green enchilada sauce was preferred over red, and the carne asada was more like steak but it was seasoned nicely. The horchata was watery and sweet, I do wish it was a little thicker. The lemonade was great for my son. I'd go again to try different things on their menu. The prices were good compared to a lot of other Mexican restaurants in surrounding areas.
Vamos!! Today's adventure led us to a hidden treasure, a cozy eatery with vibrant colors that it's impossible to overlook, despite its secluded location. As soon as we arrived, Lisseth, our gracious host, greeted us with a friendly smile. She was incredibly helpful, answering all our questions and offering us an array of mouthwatering menu choices. I tried the moist grilled chicken burrito with a flavorful sauce that hit the spot. One of our group members was unsure about what to order as he was sticking to his keto diet. Thankfully, Lisseth came to the rescue and recommended a dish that would support our friend's dietary goals.. Come on over and give this place a shot! I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks a bunch, Frijoles restaurant, for the amazing service.
I was in the area and craving some menudo, so I decided to stop by this restaurant since they offer menudo and pozole on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The location is easy to find, right off Aviation Blvd. However, the parking lot is quite small and the spaces are cramped, so it can be a bit tricky to navigate. The service was okay, not great. You seat yourself and wait for a server to come around, which can take some time. The prices seemed to have gone up significantly, as they were not displayed on the menu. The menudo was decent, with clean tripe but slightly greasy broth. I also found small bones in my broth, likely from the pozole. For two medium menudo bowls and two coffees, the total came to over $40. I remember the prices being more reasonable in the past, so the inflation seems a bit excessive. I'm not sure if I would return in the future.
