The prices are to high, small serving, and the food was tasteless. Never again ?I will never eat there again
I have only found one great Thai restaurant since moving to Columbus. I was hoping to make it two after reading all of the reviews. It is a bit out of the way, so it has taken awhile to cross it off the list. They are operating as carry out only. When you arrive, the restaurant entrance is on the far right. It shares the shopping plaza with an attached grocery. My bad for not specifying the heat level on the veggie Panang curry. It was crazy hot! It also lacked any real variety of veggies. The chicken pad prik, on the other hand, just lacked flavor. The rice was not light or nutty as jasmine rice usually is. It tasted just like regular boiled white rice. So far, nothing can top Thai Grille but it's always fun to have a food adventure.
I 'm a West Coast kid that was spoiled on having good Thai food everywhere I went, so trying to find Thai food in Columbus that compared was a challenge. My wife and I went through so many different restaurants trying to find the same magic, and Bangkok Grocery Restaurant was the one where we finally felt like ok, this is the kind of Thai food that we 're used to. The location isn 't great for us to drive to so we don 't eat here as often as we like, but when it comes to the food, it hurts a perfect sweet spot between cost and taste. The flavor of the food is very good, they know how to spice it so that medium is hot (you can feel it) but it doesn 't drown out any of the other sensations, and the price point for this restaurant is extremely fair. Plus, I always seem to end up with leftovers for the next day. The Pad See Ew is really reliable, the Thai fried rice is really tasty (get it with pork), and the crab rangoons are consistently on.
This place is one of my childhood favorites! When they didn't do dine-in for the longest time i tried other Thai places and they were okay but not the same as a classic place I've always went when I was a kid. My mom loves this place because we would eat in our booth and she would go right next door by going through the door in between the store and shop while we ate with our dad and gave her stress free shopping day. This place holds a special place in my heart and oh my god how the food was so good! So flavorful and so filling and they give big servings than other Thai restaurants and #1 thing you should get are the baby spring rolls!
