The lady serving was so cute and tried to explain the treats. I went for a traditional basque dessert which was only ok. I'm gutted as I should have gone back to try some of the cream desserts as they looked better.
Specialty of this pretty shop was a deeply tangerine-colored, lightly citrus flavored, syrup-soaked (like classic non-American sponge) cake. Those tiny confections also orange-colored? The lady at the shop showed us a worn little card with a picture of a sunny-side up egg, and the word 'yolk. ' It seemed exactly that, a tiny custard-like sweet of little more than yolk and sugar. The creme chantilly-filled pastry was fresh, the donut (fried pastry) filled with pastry cream a little tough, maybe a bit old. Chocolate and custard desserts good, if a tad overly sweet.
