It was delightful and of course the ice cream was incredible. The service was excellent and personable. Everything there is of a really high standard and is hard to resist.
You have to try Era! I loved everything about this quaint little shop! There were the two beautiful owners taking some freshly baked cake out of the oven when I arrived. As you walk in, wafts of sweet, playful scents tickle your nose and you immediately feel like a kid again. Kid version of me would want to try every flavour of Ice cream.. So that's exactly what I did! My faves were the chocolate Oreo, maple syrup pecan, and peanut butter. The apple and cinnamon was rather interesting. I also recommend the brownie fudge thingy that's sold at the counter. Such a beautiful shop and everything is handcrafted and made from scratch. Amazing. Keep it up ladies!
Ice-cream and waffles are always a winner, but today I I tried the 'Marie Antoinette ' waffle at Era and was blown away. This decadent dish comprises a light, crisp waffle topped with three balls of homemade ice-cream in three different flavours; apple and cinnamon, salted caramel and vanilla bean. This is then drizzled with caramel sauce and topped with pecan nuts. It was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed a cup of filter coffee with it. I can 't wait to go back and try the other waffle options or a piece of cake.
What an awesome ice cream gem in Durban. The young gent that served us was incredibly helpful in explaining the menu. He made some great suggestions and we thoroughly enjoyed the decadent dessert experience. If you are in Durban then don't miss out on this ice cream.
My first thought was that waffle was way too small but I soon realised it was quite filling with three scoops of ice-cream and toppings. The ice-cream flavours are classic and tasty. The service was good as we were the only customers and the lady at the counter took our order, made our waffles, served us and was busy churning ice-cream It was a nice chilled afternoon treat before heading off to Kingsmead (just 5 mins away) for an evening of t20 cricket.
