We had taken a taxi to Soggy Peso, had plenty of drinks there, and decided to walk back to Centro but just a few minutes down the road was Bahia Tortuga, and since it was just a little before sunset we decided to pop in! In my trip notes I wrote that we were greeted and supplied menus immediately upon sitting at the bar and had our drinks back in two minutes. I was hungry after drinking all afternoon so I ordered a grilled cheese - great comfort food! We walked around their private dock area a little, looking at boats and watching the sunset. We also enjoyed the dachshunds running around because we were desperately missing our two dogs at home. They had super clean, modern bathrooms here and it was much more chill when we went compared to Soggy Peso. We walked back to Centro, it was about 10-12 minutes for us to get back to our hotel (Casa El Pio), and it was a really doable walk after sunset when it was a littler cooler. Our bill was $160 peso for our two cheladas and my grilled cheese, so very good value! I would go again.
De este sitio me gusto la ubicación y el salón , tan bien decorado, es un lugar para ir con amigos a tomar unos tragos y pasar un momento divertido
I've been to BT several times over the past few years. Unfortunately on our recent visit, we found that it is closed for renovation, under new ownership. It appears to have been closed for many months, and it appears that it will open under a new name and look.
Grouper sandwich is wonderful. Atmosphere very inviting. Closes around 8-9 PM out of respect for the guests who stay there. Good to see Danny again. We missed seeing Rhonda!
On our last night on Isla Mujeres we decided to try Bahia Tortuga for a Philly and Burger. We walked in and had a seat. We were there for over 10 minutes and never approached about a drink much less ordering food. The bar only had 3 or 4 patrons but 2 people behind it working. After waiting and never being approached we decided that we were leaving, too many places on Isla with much better service (such as Barlito just up the road). As we left no one bothered to ask us anything, and both people behind the bar spoke fluent english, the female was as American sounding as me, so it was not a language problem. We may have missed out on good food, but if the server doesnt bother to serve what else do you do??? By the way, we went just up the road to Barlito where we had enjoyed an amazing breakfast as well as awesome service that morning and enjoyed not only great service once again but a fabulous meal.
