This place has been on my list to try for a while and came very well recommended. We stopped in for Sunday breakfast on the way home from Key West. There was a 20 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar. Started with **** Marys as we waited for ourfood. I choose the Shrimp and Grits and hubby had the Fish Sandwich. His sandwich was good but my shrimp and grits were amazing. The sauce was just the right amount of spice, the shrimps juicy and loved the onions and peppers on the sauce. Comes with breadfor dipping and you well! You won?t want to leave a drop of that sauce on the grits. Now I have to come back to try more fromtheir tempting menu.
First time at this place. Our room was not at all like the photos on the site. Room was clean. Very outdated. Screen on the window was torn over and bent. Our room was upstairs, and unless you are 5' 7 tall, you are Not looking out the bathroom window( with the best view of the canal). Smallest TV I've seen in a hotel in ages. Bed was comfortable. The parking lot out front issmall, but they have additional parking on the other side of the entrance. Just nobody was using it. Refrigerator was loud. Lotsof business workers stayed there, and their big trucks in the small parking lot.
Thought thus would be great, unfortunately it wasn't. I got the Love sandwich and it the portion of meatloaf didn't even cover the bun. I got the collard greens and they were very disappointing, to the point that these are the reason that peoplesay they don't like collards. The Monte Christo is not dipped and deep fried. They make two pieces of French toast and buildda turkey sandwich between them. They forgot the fries and then rushed them as they close at 2 on Sunday and apparently thekitchen wanted to go home because the fries they gave us were under cooked. This place rates a skip it.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was really good and the cocktails were excellent. For starters I think the buffalo cauliflower appetizer $11) was perfection, it?s really worth trying. The dinner also includes warm breadrolls. We were there on a Wednesday and I had the steak special $30) Compliments to the chef because they can grill anincredible steak. The flavor was exceptional. My husband had the fresh catch $38 $9 for the Ala Roxie preparation) and it wasdelicious as well. Overall I don?t think you can go wrong here. Definitely worth the price.
