Apparently the guy fieri went here?! crazy.... fried calamari 6.7/10 (sprinkled with parmesan cheese. served with marinara) ...
So Guy Fieri was wrong. This place isn't very good. We had great hopes for the shrimp shack because the Twisted Shrimp place nearby was knock your socks off...
Our server was a lot of fun and had a great sense of humor. I'm not a fan of fried seafood, but I decided to try the shrimp sampler. The Bacon BBQ flavor was a bit overwhelming. The coconut shrimp and panko shrimp tasted similar and were slightly overcooked. However, the pinacolada sauce was delicious. The Shrimp Jambalaya had great flavor with a mild level of heat. The Gator appetizers were surprisingly tender despite being deep fried. The bread basket had okay dry banana bread loaves, but the small round breads had a delightful hint of coconut. The B/W Sundae had a dry cake and the keylime pie was not very memorable, but the chocolate dessert was enjoyable. My Rum Runner cocktail was strong, but the cherry flavor was too strong for my liking. Overall, I may not return to this restaurant except for the gator appetizers and the enjoyable time we had with our server.
My family and I chose to dine at this restaurant after seeing it on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. It exceeded our expectations as the food was incredibly delicious! I ordered the shack fried shrimp basket with pina colada sauce and it was delightful. My son enjoyed the Key West Shrimp pasta dish, which he described as divine. My husband opted for the BBQ Surf and Turf, a half rack of ribs and bacon-wrapped shrimp, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The waitress was fantastic and provided great recommendations for choosing our meals. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting!
