Just arrived in Anglesey after a 3.5 hour journey from South Cumbria for our 16th summer holiday in Benllech, we stopped at Waitrose as usual for our holiday “shop” and café visit. On this occasion we were also meeting up with 6 friends who were leaving the island. We were SO kindly treated by Karen. She organised the tables so that we could all have a coffee and cake together and chat. Nothing was a problem. The café was pristine (hand sanitiser on every table) and the food was delicious. After our shop, my husband and I also had lunch there. To my surprise, because the soup I’d ordered was a tiny bit late, Karen brought over a cake gift from the counter. Such a treat. Many thanks. It really made the start of our holiday.
Awful security guard on duty during Coved. He 's a big guy and his white almost Police uniform has gone to his head. You can only go into the store when he waggles a finger at you. He decides who goes into the store and he does not even have a counting device. You wait in line like a sheep to be slaughtered! Last week he deserted his position to move trolleys around the car park whilst I waited outside at attention! He then came back to the store and went to the reception desk just inside the entrance and engaged in conversation with his colleague! Having waited over 5 minutes I just went into the store. He saw me enter the store and chased me down the aisle when he went on to berate me for entering the store without his permission. I told him he had deserted his post and at least 30 people had exited the store whilst i was waiting outside, His answer was It doesn 't work that way Matti, you only come into the store when I say so No other supermarket has a security guard at the door dictating when people should enter. Many times he just stands taking to his friends whilst people stand out in the rain. Well done Waitrose for giving power to security guards to judge your customers. I wont shop there again. Time you listened to your ex customers and get rid of the bully boy!
Popped in to do a shop whist on holiday. We finally reached the doorman managing the queue we were in outside. A stream of people were coming out and a couple before us went in, suddenly he turned to us and shouted “stop there”. Much to the amusement of those behind me, some who whispered through there masks about “ a little hitler” and power hungry, but certainly rude an offensive. In the store , when seeking help from assistants we received cursory regard, but it was at the checkout that our worst experience was had. In trying to pay by card, my wife wasn’t clear where to position it. Her handbag was underneath the reader light, but instead of politely asking my wife to move it the cashier shouted “Move you handbag”, three times, embarrassing my wife and making a scene. We regularly shop at Waitrose in our home town....but we never intend to shop here again
Find it disgusting that the lady on the door made my mother wait while she’s unable to stand long in the que and looking at us disgustingly. I couldn’t wait as i have a night shift in the Hospital tonight and had to get my sleep, yet they still made me wait as they say for us to let them know if we are a “key worker” which i work on a covid ward and the treatment and the judgemental looks i had was disgusting just because my mam is disabled and cannot que long as i was working a shift aslo. Never going to waitrose again find the staff’s behaviour absolutely vile and the “ woman and the secturity” on the door should be fired. You should be ashamed hiring people with no respect. Brings you’re customers down and they wont be coming again.
