The staff always manage to have a brief word in addition to taking your order. Even while busy serving lunches, the team manages to look after takeaway customers and do their best to find room for those who have not booked for the roasts. Soup and sandwiches, along with the always amzing cakes, were on offer for the walk-ins. The vegetarian option needs to be ordered in advance and is delicious.
Christmas lunch at Dimbola is a very special event if you’re lucky enough to get a table GO. Traditional lunch turkey gammon piled high with a fabulous selection of vegetables, lashings of gravy, with an option for the vegetarian option cooked with understanding love care and attention to detail, washed down with IOW beers and Prosecco. Then an extensive choice of home made puddings, the Christmas pudding chosen was light full of flavour with a brandy sauce that had a walloping amount of booze so creamy we could have licked our bowls Absolutely outstanding well done everyone who looked after us so beautifully done what a team
We booked in advance as we knew the tearoom would be especially busy because of a craft fair. The staff served us pretty quickly and the quiche was delicious. A truly remarkable array of cakes was on offer: the ginger and orange cake was one of the more unusual festive options. I emailed a thank you after our meal and was impressed to receive a response within less than a day. Even though the staff had to move fast they managed a brief conversation with all customers and organised things for walk ins as well as reserved customers. A class act.
Lovely food but more importantly friendly welcoming and helpful staff. A pretty traditional tea room
The best description that comes to mind are the lyrics from a 60 's song, a cup of cold coffee and piece of cake After a 15 minute wait (on a not very busy mid morning) I 'm afraid the two coffees ordered were barely lukewarm and had obviously been standing and the cake was tasteless. Instead of lingering over what was hoped to be a nice treat in beautiful surroundings we left the coffees (but ate the cake).
