Wight Bay - Isle of Wight

I don’t know if this is normal for a 2 star hotel, but this hotel isn’t very nice. The decor is brown everything, and hasn’t been updated since the 50s. Stains on floor, wall paper peeling off. There is no service whatsoever. No one ever on reception. We were there 5 days and no one came in to our room to clean or replenish. I had to buy new toilet roll when our one roll ran out, bin bags for the bin, and find a skip for the full bin. Positives are that it is genuinely a 2 minute walk from the beach, breakfast is fine and it’s as quiet as other guests make it.

We are a couple of pensioners who booked a coach holiday to stay at this hotel. After travelling down from Nottingham we were looking forward to our evening meal. All the tables in the dining room were bare and it looked like a 3rd rate pub. Eventually we got some utencils wrapped in a cheap napkin. After an hour and a quarter we eventually got served after a fashion. This was the start of our worst holiday experience in a lifetime. No one ever visited our room to clean it or replace the tea making facilities. I had to go to reception to ask for toilet rolls. We were so disgusted with the service we decided to eat out. At breakfast there was not the customary orange juice and cerials laid out. My wife had to complain to the manager to try and get this sorted out. It took me a week to recover from bruises where the springs in the mattress poked up. We could write a book of our complaints but we would just like to warn you that the management here has not got a clue how to look after a hotel. We love the Isle of Wight but our stay here spoilt our holiday. So be warned.

One night stay and the hotel was good for a single night stay. Limited car parking but we checked in just before 4 and got the last space : Friendly welcome. Room as you would expect no frills but comfortable. Good location 2 min walk to seafront and pier. Breakfast was good.

Lovely restaurant and lounge/bar, rooms clean and tidy. Very friendly and helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast as much as you want from a buffet served by staff and lovely evening meal available enjoyed ourselves so much back again in September for another 16 nights.

Very very disappointed in whole hotel and to top it all food was cold and you didn't even get what you ordered
