It’s not very southwest or very large at all for $8.99. There aren’t many ingredients to it either: lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, roasted corn, chicken, and fried tortilla strips. Last night my husband threw together a quick salad from what we had in our kitchen that was probably three times better and cheaper than this. Corner Bakery does have good iced tea and desserts, so just avoid any of the regular meals there.
This was my second time having lunch at the Corner Bakery Cafe. My mom and I had a very nice lunch super fast service, lots of menu choices. I realized that we should probably have decided what to order when we came in the door, but we took our time looking at the menu at the order desk and everyone was very patient with us and polite. The restaurant is clean, open, has music that is not over powering. Mom and I had turkey, bacon, avocado sandwiches on their hearty grain bread. For our sides, mom had a Cesar Salad, and I had chips. We each got clear plastic to go boxes for our leftovers they have very generous portions. The bathrooms were clean. We found easy parking, but they only have 2 handicapped spaces in front of the restaurant and they were full. When you leave the parking area and enter onto Gilman Blvd there is not a light, but we were lucky and there was an opening in traffic so that we could turn left to go home.
I've come here several times now, mostly for breakfast, and am liking it. I find their breakfast sandwiches preferable compared to the place across the street. Additionally, you can get a complete bacon and egg breakfast here with pancakes or potatoes. A complete bacon, egg, and pancake breakfast is under $10. Furthermore, they have drip coffee, tea, lattes, and a full lunch menu as well with salads, sandwiches, soups, and pasta. Add in their decent and free WiFi and you'll see why it's hard to not like this place.
I love the soups. Love the salads. Love the salads. I'm watching my carbs sugar so haven't really gotten to try the pastas treats but the look delicious. If you can find a time they're not too busy it's a great place to relax with a meal. During peak hours get your order to go... you'll be lucky to find a open table. Can't wait until the weather cooperates so more seating outside will be available. The coffe is great too!
We got their choose any two. Nice portions and yummy flavor. A half sandwich and small bowl of soup were perfect on this rainy day.
