Luna Inspired Street Food Collegetown

I ordered the fish tacos and duck fat French fries at Luna. The fries were fantastic; I’ve never had fries cooked in duck fat before, and they were a delightful surprise. The fish tacos were tasty, but the pieces of fish in each taco were quite small—smaller than I expected, to be honest. The service was excellent, and my family of five had a wonderful time at the restaurant. I wish I could remember our server's name; she was exceptional! I think it was Crystal, but I’m not entirely sure. She really took great care of us. Overall, I would rate our visit a 4 out of 5, and I believe that rating reflects my disappointment with the tiny portions of the fish tacos. The pineapple salsa could have used a bit more spice, but since I’m from New Mexico, I might just have a higher tolerance for heat than others might!

The prices here are outrageous. I ordered a bean burger and fries for lunch, and both were disappointing. The fries had an odd taste; half of them were too hard and the other half were overly chewy. The burger was quite mushy, which is typical for a bean burger, but it was also comically larger than the bun. On the positive side, the fried Oreos were excellent, and the frosting on the side added some nice flavor. My total order came to nearly $40, which is just insane. The burger alone was almost $16.

As I took my first bite of fries and noticed an unusual taste, my wife discovered that her fish tacos were unfortunately very disappointing as well. Around that time, a grease truck arrived and parked right in front of the restaurant. The driver asked the manager if she wanted to cancel the delivery, suggesting it would be inappropriate to pump grease while customers were dining. I overheard her say, "No, we’ll make them move." Eventually, we were transferred to the smaller table that was supposedly reserved. At that point, we just wanted the check so we could leave. Although they removed the charge for the fish tacos, the entire experience left us shaken. We ended up ordering Domino's while still sitting at our table. What a frustrating night! The margarita was good, at least.

Food is not bad, but it's too pricy for what you get. Empty at dinner in a collegetown, never a good sign.
