I also didn't like the fact that there wasn't a bar. I decided to order for pickup this time. I ordered a bandeja paisa to go and sadly the steak didn't have any type of taste to it. Luckily the chorizo and chicharron tasted good though.
Came to Pollos Amarios for breakfast today (which they serve from 3am 11.30am) and it exceeded all my expectations! The bistek ranchero was absolutely delicious and the hot chocolate was soooooo good. I'm usually not too crazy about Colombian food (my wife is, being from Colombia) but this place definitely changed my opinion. The interior of the restaurant is very pretty, and despite being located on a busy thoroughfare, we were able to enjoy our meal in peace. Pollos Amarios has great food, nice decor, friendly service and is even open 24/7 what more could you ask for?
I know this place for long time, first time I went there back in 2014 and it I wasn't happy with service but recently this year I went to eat at this place over 3 times and everything was great. The person I had an issue with is gone. My favorite dish is chicken and rice. Steak is also good, soup is delicious, but pork belly isn't that great, too sticky and hard. Food came fast and even super busy like 4th of July they still opened and handled things good.
My go to colombian food spot when im in jackson heights, consinstancy always the same. Service is usually decent its not a huge place it is 2 floors but everything is visible so you wont be missed. My go to order, Bandeja with the steak, a con somè (chicken soup) and an arepa with cheese with 2 colombianas on the side (colombian kola/soda).
This is the rotisserie chicken in NYC. Not to mention the best FRIJOLES on earth. And the prices are AMAZING!
