Pops House - Jackson

Great visit today. We filled up the boat and then docked for lunch. Jack was our server and he was on point all afternoon. The drinks were cold, food was perfect, and the service was excellent by all. We had the shrimp sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, kids meals, cheese cake and chocolate cake.

Overpriced, small portions, my wifes food smelled rotten and tasted the same. Wait staff was terrible, 5 girls working and people had to keep coming to get them so they could order. Cold beer was the only plus to this place.

Increased the prices (by a LOT! from last summer and reduced amount of food for the increase! Shrimp basket now $16 (pretty sure that's a $4 increase and no longer comes with hushpuppies. You have to order those separately...for $8! Fries were lukewarm...makes sense since the first couple of orders sat on the counter getting cold (put under the heat lamp at least! while they waited on the rest to be finished. No sides other than fries and slaw. Only reason for 2 stars is that the shrimp was good. One minute there by car, but we'll drive the 15 minutes to the other options in the area and spend much much less.

From the time our order was taken until our food was brought to the table, it was over 50 minutes in duration. Not once during that time did our waiter come by the table. The frustrating thing was that 4-5 waitresses were standing at the doorway BSing almost the entire time. When our food finally came to the table, 6 out of the 7 meals were cold (the 7th meal was a chicken salad sandwich). The most frustrating thing was the bread tie that my daughter found in here chicken salad. Unfortunately she was chewing it at the time. The only positive of the evening was we were not charged, but this only occurred when my wife complained twice.

For dinner I ordered the shrimp tacos for $12. The meal came with 3 shrimp tacos. When our meal arrived there were indeed 3 tacos with 1 small shrimp on each taco. My daughter ordered the child’s shrimp basket, and her order came with 4 shrimp for 1/2 the price. While I am glad to see a restaurant on this side of the lake, I think they are going to have to step up their food quality in order to be successful.
