I had the eggplant parm for my meal. Not everyone can make the eggplant to perfection but he nailed it. My pasta was cooked proper and the meatball I ordered was like my grandma used to make. Loved it
I have not had the opportunity to eat in this new restaurant and yet I can say this is one of the best restaurant's in town. My community just went through the Border Fire and on Sunday, June 26, we received a delicious donation of pans of lasagna, a stack of pizza, large bowls of salad and other goodies courtesy of Serafina Ristorante Italiano. I admit I had a piece of the pepperoni, and another of the pepperoni and sausage pizza. I happily consumed the cheese lasagna, pleased with the subtle signature in the sauce. A very comforting meal and I can't thank you all enough for supporting Potrero and providing a delicious meal to tired, stressed survivors. I will be in to sample other dishes from your menu soon. Thank you, again, for your kindness and generosity.
This is a new family owned Italian restaurant nestled in the Jamul Shopping Village near Ace Hardware store with ample free parking spaces right in front. There's a large sign in the front window letting customers know that they do not have their liquor license and they are in the process of getting one. PROS: We came here for a Saturday night dinner. We were the only customers there. Our smiling server Michael was very cordial and made sure we had everything we needed. The customer service and staff was friendly and accommodating. Food: We ordered the Caprese salad which read grape tomatoes but when it arrived it was large red tomato slices (4 count) not a big deal. The chef's special: $29 Ribeye Steak (cooked medium) with mushroom Marsala, asparagus, and potatoes on a huge silver platter was a winner. The Veal Parmigiana with spaghetti smothered in red sauce was delicious. Nice presentation and appropriately portioned. Both meals came with your choice of house salad of romaine lettuce, black olives and chopped tomatoes with 1 of 3 types of dressing or the soup of the night which was minestrone. Con: Right when he brought us the bread basket and our waters to my astonishment, I witnessed a fly sighting. There's nothing more annoying and disturbing than having flies in a nice restaurant hovering over your food, plates, and glasses. When the house salads came out more flies arrived and then the main entrees, well it was hard to enjoy our food when we were literally swatting flies away from our plates, silverware, glasses, table, and faces. I don't even want to think if flies landed on our food as it was ready to be served to us. I'm so glad I didn't order the swordfish, it would have attracted even more flies. We really wanted to like this place but there is a serious fly issue. The doors were closed, AC was on, and the fans were blowing too. Hmm?!!! Unfortunately, it caused an uncomfortable dinner out.
Had a terrible take-out order experience. Spent several minutes on the phone with what sounded like a young girl who did not understand the menu. I was asking questions about ingredients for the pesto and the clam sauce pasta dishes. She finally confirmed my order (saying out loud what I had ordered) and then got it wrong. I ended up with something that tasted like alfredo sauce over spaghetti; definitely not clam or pesto. Thankfully, my husband was kind enough to trade dishes with me because I was so disappointed.
Had dinner tonight and lunch last week. Great service, delicious food. Brought our own wine and beer. Oir server was Sarah and she was fantastic! Kept her on her toes and she vrpuggt her A game. Hubby requested that the game be put on the tv and she accommodated. I requested ponk saice on my gnocci and it was aconmodated. I think this will be our go-to spot! So happy we found Serafina in our own backyard. Thank you Marco for opening this little gem in put Haven in the hills .
