Dinner tonight was perfect. A wonderful wedge salad. The bacon was a perfectly cooked contrast to the lettuce, and the blue cheese was tasty. French onion soup was exquisitely sweet, and flavorful. Steak came out a perfect medium rare, and it was extremely flavorful on its own (no enhancements). Some of the best scallops I've had, and I just had several great ones in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New Orleans in the last few weeks. Alicia was the perfect dinner companion at the bar. Whenever I am in Janesville, this will be a must stop for dinner.
The food, drinks and service was incredible! My only two suggestions would be to give more time in between courses before deciding what's next and the door leading to the outdoor seating kept slamming shut and was very obnoxious.
My spouse and I visited Wissota for the first time today, but unfortunately, we were not impressed. The highlight of a Chophouse should be the quality of the meats, but we found this to be the weakest aspect of our experience at Wissota. The service was good, with a very friendly server named Mariah. The bread board was decent, nothing extraordinary, but satisfactory. I ordered the Dry Aged Ribeye and my spouse ordered the 10 oz Filet for our main courses. We also ordered loaded mashed potatoes, mushroom risotto, and parmesan Brussels sprouts as our sides. The sides were mostly delicious, especially the mushroom risotto, which was creamy and flavorful, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. However, the loaded mashed potatoes had burnt pieces of bacon. The steaks were the most disappointing part of the meal - they were cooked inconsistently and dry, not to mention lacking in seasoning. We both requested medium rare, but they came out more on the medium side. This was particularly disappointing considering the high price of the ribeye ($99) - I've had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse. Overall, I can only give Wissota two stars because of the disappointing quality of the main dishes.
Completely on point for this style of dinning!! It was a Monday night and service (Ivan) was perfectly paced and enjoyable. I was a solo diner and didn 't feel rushed or an imposition.May have helped I ordered wine, Oysters, Bond Marrow. NY Strip with prawns and asparagus, then the glass of Port arrived and holy cow...it wasn 't your typical cordial glass of Grahams Porto Reserve LMFAO...legit 6 fl.oz pour. Carrot Cake for dessert because well hell it 's Wisconsin and a Supper Club .Drop the money, do the deed! It 's worth it for nothing more than this style of dinning is remarkably hard to find outside the Dairy State!
