I have this stretch from manzanillo to pw more than twice a year for the last 10 years. never saw this place until today because of an infall, blocking the road for 3 tours. this place was only next to the autobahn. to my surprise it is. an amazing place with great food. it is a relaxed place put back...if they are in a hurry or expect a raised place not to go, but from them they enjoy a nice lunch with different aromes and a place with purpose this is their hidden gem
The staff is good eating is ok, but it is not warm and fuzzy. they really don't like visitors. therefore they are prepared not to expect.
We just returned from a “dinner” at La Coscolina. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation to find an empty restaurant and a group of waiters perched around a bar. We introduced ourselves and they barely budged off their bar stools. They gestured at...the nearest table indoors, surrounded by the merchandise (handbags and small sculptures) they also sell. We asked to sit at one of the empty tables outside on the plaza and were told they were for people with reservations. When we told them (in Spanish) that we HAD a reservation, they said the table in the shop was the only one for us. We sat down, and then the mosquitos began their feast. We asked for and were given repellent, but not before all 5 of us had been bitten several times. Menus came and we were told that several items were unavailable. The menu is largely sandwiches. There is also a separate sushi menu. Two in the group ordered sushi, one grilled dorado, and two an Iberico ham sandwich. The food came quickly. The sushi was quickly determined to be unsafe to eat the salmon was not fresh. The sushi was sent back and the manager started yelling loudly on the phone to someone about the quality of the salmon. The dorado was bland but fine. The sandwiches were supposed to have been iberico ham, cheese, arugula and tomato. It was just ham and tomato. When the bill came, we were charged for two of the four sushi rolls ordered despite the fact it was unsafe because we had eaten part of it. There was no apology, no anything. By the time we left, we were still the only people in the restaurant none of the “reserved” tables had been used. The welcome we received was rude, the seating punitive (we can only assume it meant a shorter walk from the kitchen), and the food ranged from unsafe to eat, to falsely advertised to bland. There are many better restaurants to choose from (Punta Como across the plaza was full, as was Pueblo 25). Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
I loved this restaurant and ate there more than any other place in careyes. I am vegan and have found so many interesting options. the salad, the vegan sushi, the hummus and the edamame dip etc. the restaurant is also clean, cute and comfortable. but if you want...local Mexican food drive 30 min north to perula, where you can eat seafood on the beach. we ate in el jabalan, where we also rented a boat (and umbrella) and spent a few hours in isla cocolinas.
