El Jimador - Jefferson City

Could have sworn I already provided a review... but evidently not. It's the hubs favorite Mexican joint in town. We usually sit in the bar and they always tKe.good care of us. It was our first time going for Cinco de Mayo today. I wanted chorizo and found the Molcajete Mexicano that had ALL the meats and cheese. It was delicious! Once we ordered a large cheese dip. Figured it would be a little bigger than the salsa bowl, but it was gigantic! Soup bowl size... I was so shocked, but we ate most and brought the rest home. The hubs will miss his weekly visit when he moves next month.

The queso and chips were great. The service was great. The food was horrible. This is not Mexican food. Do better.

Good food, great portions, if you leave hungry, it's on you. El Espolon is a great place to get good Mexican food. Fresh hot tostadas, good sauces, some items may be substituted according to preferences, great service, and atmosphere make it an enjoyable experience. They have parking in front or in the rear of the establishment for those visiting, if the front lot is full, swing around to the rear entrance in Gerbes' parking lot. High chairs and booster seats are available, and there's plenty of seating. Beware, on Mexican holidays like Cinco de Mayo, they get VERY busy and the place will be packed to the gills. They do have a bar with beer and believe wine selections, and serve margaritas, of course. They also have entrees for large and small appetites, a good lunch menu, and friendly servers. They have always taken good care of us! Ony last visit, they were still on-point, the chilé relleno was delicious, the beef taco loaded, and very filling, with rice and beans, I got filled up, and set a bit to enjoy the atmosphere, and let my food digest a bit, before I headed out. Definitely an advantage during the quiet part of the day!

We live in Como and took the drive to Jeff City to check out this Mexican restaurant because of the food pictures they posted on Facebook looked very good. We love the decor of this restaurant and makes you feel like your in Mexico . The food was pretty good, but the margaritas could use just a little more tequila. Overall, we would definitely go again to check out some of the other food selections.

Server was nice and food was ok, the chimichanga was very small compared to any other mexican joint around, while the food wasn't bad its not gunna be in a tiktok food video. Probably won't go again cuz of how tight money is these days it needs to be very good or ill just make it at home but if someone else is paying I'm in. My wife and I enjoyed the meal in whole but we also haven't been able to have a date in 3 years so we was fired up just to go out. It's worth a lunch to try it out.
