Cajun Catfish House - Jefferson City

We dined there on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and our experience was disappointing. We started with alligator as an appetizer, but it was rubbery and overcooked. When I mentioned it, the waitress insisted that it was supposed to be that way. I ordered sweet tea, but it tasted bitter, as if it had been sitting out for a while. For my main course, I chose the macaroni, fish, and cornbread, swapping the cornbread for hush puppies. Unfortunately, the hush puppies were inedibly hard, and the macaroni was so dry that it seemed to have no cheese at all. Overall, the meal was quite bad, and we ended up being charged $42.87 (transaction 112261). I don’t anticipate returning anytime soon.

Absolutely not! Their filets are just half of a fish filet sliced down the middle. The sides reminded us of frozen TV dinners. Our server was very friendly, but she forgot something every time she came back to our table. A friend had recommended this place, so we gave it a shot, but we won't be returning. We genuinely wanted to include this restaurant in our regular rotation, but we were left extremely disappointed.

This restaurant was a delightful surprise! Good Cajun cuisine in the heart of Missouri is rare, but these folks have truly nailed it. The grilled catfish might not seem appealing at first, but with their unique twist, it's absolutely delicious! The jambalaya was fantastic too. If you haven't had the chance to dine here for dinner yet, you're definitely missing out!

This was our first visit to the Cajun Catfish House. It won't be our last. Good selection including catfish, crab cakes, breaded oysters, alligator, frog legs, and more. We had carry out fried catfish, breaded oysters, and crab cakes. We got the food about 2:30 and warmed it up about 5:30. It was very good!

The price for what was received was not worth this one and only visit. This meal was not to be a drive-thru meal. It was not relaxing and not a great experience. If I wanted fish and fries I could have gone thru Long John silver's, at least there are sides like slaw and hush puppies, not to mention cost less. Thanks but no thanks.
