We had eaten here twice. We had the best Rabo de Toro from this restaurant. Service was not bad. We sat at the bar for hours and no problem. I agree that this is a place for the meat lovers. They have some fish...and seafood but I recommend ordering meat from here. There is nothing sophisticated, pretensious modern cooking here but humble and excellent homecooking. The waiters cannot speak English very well but they are still attentive and helpful.
What they do at this restaurant they do well although it’s pretty limited to meat and seafood, I didn’t fancy either so didn’t fare very well. The nicest thing I had was some grilled oyster mushrooms which were really tasty, but prior to that I...had a horrible soup, sopa Piccadillo which was a watery concoction with egg and rice. Overall we weren’t impressed with this restaurant, some of the food was good but limited choice and poor service let it down. I had a dirty glass which I asked to be replaced but it never was so we ended up having to share a water glass. We also ordered some red wine which was served chilled, I can understand this in the height of summer but at this time of year it’s completely unnecessary. Also another thing was that some things that people had to eat didn’t appear to be on the menu which was frustrating because I would have liked to have had some of the things but hadn’t ordered them as I didn’t know they were available. So overall we wouldn’t rush back here, it’s ok if you want a hearty cheap meat/seafood feast but that’s about it.
This tapas bar is set away from the main square up a tiny, winding street. It's very traditional and is in fact the oldest tapas bar in Jerez. Great friendly service and excellent tapas. Try the mini beef burger for The grilled Iberian meat...platter was delicious and very popular at our table for The scorpion fish pate was very tasty and the ham and cheese croquettes were yummy. We tried many other tapasplates Very cheap drinks also. for very hungry and thirsty adults. That included bottles of wine plus beers and sherries. We were given complimentary caramel vodkas and mini ice creams after our meal. We went back again a few nights later and ate inside. Would definitely go back here!
