Nicole's Caribbean - Jersey City

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant due to poor customer service. They attempted to sell me four overcooked oxtails for $21, and when I asked for more, it turned into an issue. An older woman, along with an older man and a younger woman working there, were quite rude. I had more than enough money to pay for the extra oxtails I requested, but they refused to give them to me. Instead, they offered me chicken, which I declined since they had a whole pan of baked chicken sitting out. Ultimately, I ended up ordering a single plate of curry chicken, rice and beans with plantains for $15, but I didn't want extra chicken. Overall, I left feeling dissatisfied.

I really hate to write this, but I prioritize cleanliness and sanitation immensely. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant with my husband, but unfortunately, when he took a bite of his fish sandwich, he found a long hair baked right into the breading of the fish. We tried to remove it, but it was actually cooked into the fish. That was a deal-breaker for us! We won't be coming back, and I can only imagine what else might be overlooked!

I've been living in Jersey for three years, and I’ve finally discovered a Caribbean restaurant that cooks just like a West Indian should. I ordered the baked salt fish and curry goat roti. When I opened the salt fish, I found it was stewed instead of baked, but let me tell you, it was incredibly delicious! It reminded me of my mother’s salt fish. I’ll end my review here because I can't wait to dive into this roti!

Ordered a small boneless curry chicken w/ rice peas. Also got a j chicken patty w/ cocoa bread and a Jamaican Kola. Both were very good. Nice selection of foods as well. I will definitely be back.Food: 4/5
