Took no tour, public access areas were very nice. very positive is the arrangements made to be valuable for the population. apart from the exhibitions the castle is used for arts and crafts, student projects etc. the public library is there and even an open air arena for theater etc.
Zajímavý a krásný zámek, hradní část-částečně odkryté vzácné staré fresky, špýchar-úžasný figurální Betlém s řemesly české vesnice od jara do zimy, aktuálně nádherná výstava T.Záborce Dřevomalby, pivovar.....vše stojí za vidění
Zámek Žirovnice má bohatou freskovou výzdobu, zejména z 15. století, vstupné není vůbec drahé a stojí 70, Kč pro dospělého. Doporučuji. Zámek by si určitě zasloužil větší návštěvnost
This restaurant is worth a stop and a visit. In addition to the castle itself, there are several interesting attractions nearby, including a granary, a brewery, exhibitions on button-making and mother-of-pearl, and historical sewing machines. The basic castle tour is fascinating and unique, especially due to the wall paintings from the Gothic period. A bit of history: the original castle was founded by the Lords of Hradec. The first mention dates back to 1345, when Oldřich of Hradec was the owner. In 1485, Václav Vencelík of Vrchovišť purchased the castle along with the town of Žirovnice. Between 1485 and 1494, the castle was remodeled and expanded to its current size and appearance. In 1490, Vencelík had the interiors decorated with frescoes. The Vencelík family owned the castle until 1544, when it and the estate were acquired by Albrecht of Gutštejn. In 1564, Jáchym of Hradec purchased the estate. Minor renovations occurred between 1576 and 1577 and in 1583 and 1584, marking the beginning of the transformation from a fortress to a more comfortable Renaissance chateau. During the Thirty Years' War, in 1645, the castle was occupied by the Swedes and suffered significant damage during the siege. Restoration didn't begin until after 1693, and the southernmost part of the castle, the former palace, was reduced by one floor. Over time, Žirovnice Castle lost much of its importance. In 1910, the town of Žirovnice purchased the large estate and the castle from Count Leopold Šternberk. The castle suffered a fire in 1964, and a comprehensive restoration began in 1974, which was completed in 1992.
