Hokie Smokie Brisket Bbq - Johnson City

We tried a variety of dishes during our visit. The fried mushrooms and burnt ends beef were delicious, and the baked beans were enjoyable as well. The potato salad was just average. The beef brisket was tender, and the sausage was probably my favorite dish. The wings were decent, and the ribs were quite good. Overall, I would rate the food as acceptable to good, depending on what you choose. However, the service was lacking. The staff had to come to our table multiple times to get our order right, and they would take orders from other tables before finishing with ours. We ended up spending over two hours there.

Our first stop during our vacation in Tennessee was fantastic! We felt like part of the family from the moment we walked in. Our waitress, Crystal, was amazing, and the food was exceptional! The portions were generous as well. Here’s a picture of my meal: the smokehouse skillet mac and cheese with brisket. I definitely recommend this place!

I tried two different beers, both of which tasted stale. I'm convinced they haven't cleaned their lines in a long time. The burgers were nothing special, resembling something you might find in a school cafeteria—pretty underwhelming overall. To make matters worse, the prices were quite high. If the food had been cheap, I might have set my expectations accordingly, but it was actually more expensive than many local places I've enjoyed in the area. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money here. Interestingly, no one bothered to check in on how our meal was. I got the impression that not many customers leave positive feedback. I find it hard to believe this place is still in business; they clearly don’t care about their reputation. The waitress, who had been there for just a few days, didn’t even know how to pour a beer properly, which is concerning considering her time there. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, it took an eternity to receive our food. Lastly, I would advise against trusting local reviewers or guides for recommendations; they seem to be the only ones who actually enjoy meals at these subpar establishments. It’s astounding how lucky they seem to be.

The food was terrible! I do not recommend eating here. I had ordered lunch for my co-workers and here is some of the complaints I received, including mine. The smoked half chicken was very dry. I ordered the loaded potato wedges and just received themplain. The sweet potato fries that were ordered were as small as shoe laces and burnt terribly and only received not even ahandful. I had ordered extra sauces and did not receive them. The chicken tenders that were ordered had way too much breading onthem so all the breading did not get cooked and it tasted like paste over chicken and had zero flavor. The sandwich that wasordered looked like it was thrown in the box. Hokie Smokie seems to be very careless when it comes to their customer's food. Iwill not be back.

We were so excited to try ?Mr. Beast? but were several hours from home. We found the kitchen with some sleuthing and they were kind enough to serve us even though it couldn?t be ?delivered?. The food was great and they were especially kind to my son,taking time to give him extra stickers and talk to him about his favorite Mr. Beast stuff. The cook even came out and talked tohim about the present and previous menus. Really stellar service, great food and so friendly.
