Back in the 80s and 90s I loved cookies and Gravy from the Fiddlehead and Brown Bear Cafe. As soon as they're off, I couldn't find another one I liked at GonZos until recently. Last weekend I ordered the board and added a third biscuit (Gonzo's is very flexible in this way... a big sign of a small customer concentrated boutique restaurant). Unfortunately, three cookies are TOO MUCH. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. It was really delicious, even if I couldn't finish the whole plate. Today I ordered it again (only the two cookies) with one side of the bacon and can testify that the dish is enough to fill a 200lb man or someone who has such an appetite. Once again it was incredible. The homemade biscuits are tasty on the outside and soft inside, buttery with a hint of salt and pepper. The sausage engraving is smooth, thick and creamy (not runny as you get from a can). It is with a pinch of green peppers that give a refreshing, savory bite to eat. GonZos; Do.not. change. the recipe. Cheers Mkie
By far, the best Croissant sandwich I've ever had. I am an active coastal guard and was arrested after three SAR cases in Juniau. The crew asked to go here, they love the waffles. I grabbed one of the croissant sandwiches to go (after I had a delicious icy dirty chai) saved it until I came home, heated it up and holy cow. Talk about an amazing sandwich, much needed after two long days. Thank you Gonzo!
I visited Juniau and the locals recommended this place for breakfast. I have to say the service was right, the atmosphere was great (we sat outside, which is directly over the highway from the port) and the food was delicious from this world! Very recommended!
If someone has only one day in Juniau, Gonzo is one of the three restaurants that I recommend to people to get a truly unique taste of Juniau. I am a great personal fan of the Ban Mhi, that is Pork Belly, Kukai (pickled daikon and carrots), Gurke, Kewpie Mayo, marinated Jalapenos and La Ploy sweet chili sauce. His dope. And the reason I know the exact ingredients are because I worked there. So I know it's clean and people care.
Breakfast was phenomenal!! I recommend everyone go and experience the best breakfast ever!
