Calaveras Cantina - Jupiter

Food was much better than expected. Went for Happy Hour and ordered Nachos and a beef Taco. Nachos were excellent. Server told us it came with sour cream, but it was crema, Salsa was sour tasting, no evidence of cilantro, Chips were delicious. Taco was good, filled with stuff but taco shell was as I can buy and make at home. Drinks were delicious, but my husband's Blood Orange Margarita was $9.00 at Happy Hour which was more than we expected. Service was ok at best, BUT our biggest issue was the loud music. Not Mexican or Spanish but Rock and Roll which we would normally like but it was so loud, we couldn't hear ourselves think or talk. This is the main reason I will not return. Food was Good, Service was ok, but atmosphere was not to our liking....

Mitch (Mint) was amazing! So personable and made our whole experience. We will be requesting him on our next visit!

Mitch was GREAT! It was my boyfriend and I’s first time at Calaveras Cantina and Mitch helped us get through the first time jitters. He was very knowledgeable about the deals, the Happy Hour menu, and he was always there when we needed a refill or to put orders in. We had the table side guac and salsa amazing and we also had the street corn off the cob as an appetizer. My boyfriend ordered the grouper diablo and LOVED IT, I had the Spicy Pork Belly and Veggie tacos $3 each for taco tuesday). Overall would recommend, and coming back again soon. Hope we get seated with Mitch!

It's a great taco spot. The Carne Asada is amazing. I've tried others which are good, but now I just order a couple of the Carne Asada. I don't like the 18% tip automatically included for all parties and I think it hurts the staff. I usually tip 20% and round up from there. But I'm not inclined to add a separate 2/3% when the restaurant puts it on automatically. If you want to include it, bake it in the prices and let customers know you are a non tipping restaurant. But that is not enough to keep me away. We enjoy the food and vibe.

Excellent ? this restaurant has been a staple here in Jupiter for many years and never disappoints.
