Perfect, soft, fluffy eggs, deeply crisp bacon and a drop biscuit as good as any I’ve ever eaten, including my Aunt Anita’s! Coffee was also excellent smooth, mild and frequently topped off. Had chicken and waffles the day before way more food than I could eat at lunch but unbelievably tender and juicy. Add a biscuit and get the Bramble Jam yum!!! At the moment they are open only on Saturday and Sunday but definitely worth a visit, maybe even both days!
I love visiting here! We only missed seeing Tara's beautiful face
Great little restaurant. Came for breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. We had the southern biscuit and all American platter. The biscuits are fantastic and I loved the fried green tomato on the southern biscuit. As with many places they are short on staff but handled it well and food and service were worth it. Would definitely come back.
I want to start with saying that I was extremely close to giving this restaurant 5-stars. I wanted a home cooked breakfast while traveling in Montgomery for a conference. I love the small mom and pop restaurants so Cahawaba House is where I landed. The staff was all very warm and gave me a very welcoming vibe. They have an outdoor seating option with a lovely, relaxing viewpoint of the city. The interior is especially clean. It was easy for me to eat comfortably. I watched them play and interact with a young boy as if they were their own.The food was good. The menu option is the only area that I had any qualms with. The menu is limited on options. Not only was there not a large variety of options, but almost everything was served with pork or fried. I also thought it was interesting for a breakfast restaurant to not have an omlet option on the menu. As much as I value my health, especially while traveling, I was a bit disappointed by this part. Even the shrimp and grits, which is usually my go-to option was littered with pork so I wound up ordering 2 entrees. They do offer military discount so a big thank you for their support of our service members. The people are so nice. The environment made up for the menu shortcomings.Tyree
Excellent Sunday brunch. We were immediately greeted and had the chance to sit outside on beautiful April afternoon. Unique flavors of mimosas were available. The shrimp and grits and chicken and the egg biscuit where our choices and delicious!
