Great place with kind service and covid safety in place. Best view for people watching

Please reduce the salt level, just entirely too much! The self service scan menu has taken away from the restaurant experience. I don’t go out to eat so I can place my own order and pay through my phone. We never even had anyone ask if we wanted a refill on our coffee. It was just a cold experience

We come to Lava Java every time we visit Kona and it never disappoints

We made reservations for for our last night on the big island and asked if we were able to check in an hour earlier since we were in the area, the host was very accommodating to our request and sat us at our reserved seating which had a lovely view but was very hot at the time and asked if we could open up the umbrella, she asked her manager and the manager told her that we weren’t able to because of the wind… the manager did apologize and the host said we could choose any seat of our liking and we sat in a shaded area.. our waitress was not very friendly, she seemed like she didn’t want to be there… our drinks and food did come out quickly.. i noticed after being there for about they were opening the umbrellas and i was confused to why they didn’t mention that they would open up the umbrellas at a later time… we would’ve stayed sitting there and our waitress changed to a waiter.. which i found odd.. luckily he was much nicer than the waitress we originally had. food was moderate and service was ok.. need better communication
