Coney Island - Kalamazoo

Coney Island is a delightful little diner. While the Coney Dogs are undoubtedly the highlight, I often find myself craving a burger from this spot as well. It's impressive when even someone who typically dislikes hot dogs enjoys one here.

This place has been around for a long time, with recipes originating over 50 years ago. Anyone from Kalamazoo knows that this restaurant has a lot to offer, and anyone who isn't satisfied is missing out! When it comes to quality and pricing, you truly get what you pay for, and here you receive top-notch quality.

Kalamazoo staple. While this location may lack the ambiance of downtown, the Flint-style coney dogs are just as unique. In fact, in a recent MLive ranking of the top 10 coney dogs in this coney-rich state, they placed 6th. Having lived in several major cities across Michigan—Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and others—and being a coney dog enthusiast, I can confidently say this ranking is well-deserved. The coney dog here is the traditional Flint style, made with a ground beef topping. If you’re looking for something saucier or chili-style, this isn’t the place for you. When it comes to coney dogs, think classic American rather than Lafayette-style. The menu is extremely limited, which allows them to focus on perfecting their few offerings: dogs, coneys, burgers, fries, and gyros. This makes the quality stand out. The fact that the restaurant has not only survived but thrived with such a limited selection speaks volumes. Coney Island undeniably serves the best hot dogs in town, and that’s why it remains a Kalamazoo institution.

Food is pretty good! I'd come back! I'd just take the cucumbers off the Chicago dog because that's not a Chicago-style dog!

Had the gyro, pretty good. i wish i could get the viennas here, but i cant complain about what IS on menu either. good spot. I'll be back.
