We happened upon this amazing restaurant last week. The welcome together with the food was incredible! There was no menu as such just suggestions from the proprietor’s wife. A veritable feast arrived about mins later. Probably the best food we had during two weeks in Kerala. It all felt very authentic. No frills just wonderful food, great hospitality, fantastic atmosphere, chat with the proprietor and his wife and then an introduction to their lovely little daughter. We felt nothing was too much trouble. All smiles. We will definitely seek them out when we return. What a treat?! Cheap too!
Very good food! We were on holidays in Marari and were really struggling with food — there are no good seafood cafes on the beach. But here — it was really delicious! Pity, we found this place only in the last day Thank you!
On aimerait y retourner...
We were recommended this homely restaurant by the wonderful Sanji who owns a great little coffee shop nearby! As soon as we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. We were the only ones there, so we really felt like friends coming over for supper. The restaurant is attached to their house, so it really is like being at a home-from-home. The host took care in helping us decide from the menu based on our likes (we like everything so it wasn't hard) and tolerance to spice (fairly high but possibly not by Indian standards). He then brought out a chess board for us to entertain ourselves with while we waited. We were greeted by their incredibly cute and very astute young daughter, who 'helped' us with our chess game - charming :) On to the food, we had the thali with 'fish roast' and everything blew us away. The delicious sambar, mango pickle and fish roast were particular highlights, all served on a banana leaf - the traditional Keralan way. The host and his wife came and chatted to us for a while and told us all about where the ingredients had come from. Everything was fresh and delicious and made with such care. And it was incredibly reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves thali and fish, and their food made with passion. Thanks!
