Great food. had last night with some friends, eating was excellent, highly recommened
We visited on a Tuesday night and were pleasantly surprised to see some bookings post-covid. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed dining outdoors with a beautiful view of Lake Gininderra. The shared mixed platter was enjoyable (although there was a 45-minute wait). The main courses (roast chicken, Thai beef salad, and coconut rice) were good, but the service was slow. It was difficult to get the attention of the staff for ordering drinks, and even when I specifically requested a short glass for my second Jack Daniels and coke, it still came in a tall glass. Overall, the food was tasty but overshadowed by long wait times and poor bar service.
My wife and I decided to try the Thai restaurant next door, where my Thai wife Jeab enjoys their spicy papaya salad. We were initially disappointed when the waitress informed us that they did not have papaya, but we decided to stay and order other dishes. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, with cultural Thai decorations and gentle lighting. However, our experience went downhill when the food arrived. My wife's tom yum goong was lacking in flavor, and my Thai beef salad was also underwhelming. The lack of authentic Thai spices and ingredients was evident in our dishes, making the overall meal disappointing. The prices were also a bit steep for the quality of food we received. We were also disappointed to see that the kitchen staff were not Thai, as we believe that authentic Thai restaurants should have Thai chefs. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was not up to par with other Thai restaurants we have tried in Canberra, and we will not be returning.
We went to the restaurant and discovered a cricket in my dish. When I notified the chef, he offered to refund the cost of that specific item, but we were not comfortable eating anything else knowing there were errors in the food. Despite this, he refused to refund the entire order, which we found to be very unprofessional.
