Checkers Downtown

The hotel is beautiful. It looks just like the online picture. The front reception desk was very welcoming. Bathrooms and bathrooms were both clean and made for anyone (business or vacationers) to enjoy. It truly gave me the 1920s vibe. Ok, now let's talk about what I didn't like (areas of improvement): 1) Not telling visitors how your room card is needed to swipe to get to your room. 2) $100 per day hold on your credit cards, so if you have a stay planned, take that into consideration for your budget. 3) As always, the food is basic and over price with a very little variety. 4) Bar closes at 11pm..yep, this is not a hotel for visitors. 5) Doors are closed at 11pm, so returning I did not know that, and the staff watched me struggle to understand why I couldn't get on and did nothing. Luckily, I figured it out. SO keep your card with you. If you lose it, yout out of luck. 6) Weird bathroom thing when you turn on the shower, the shower and the faucet runs at the same time, but the water runs warmer in the faucet..so hard to get the hot temperature I like. 7) The bar did not have a cocktail list, but the elevator listed the cocktails as available. The bar could only make a plain cosmo. Would I stay again? Yes, business ONLY, because it is near my company office for my meeting. But, as a vacationer, no. I felt like I was with my parents staying at a hotel.

Protesters across the street were extremely annoying.

We had a party of 4 for my fiancés birthday dinner. The staff went above and beyond for our party! They were so kind, the food was amazing and the service was great! They truly made it a night to remember! We will definitely be back.

Was not open and the staff has no idea that a reservation was made. PLEASE remove from the Open Table system for reservations. This was very confusing and I had to scramble to get another reservation last minute on a Saturday evening.

Restaurant was CLOSED. Hotel staff was unfazed and indifferent. The girl at front desk didn’t even provide dining options.
