Some people may like this about this restaurant so maybe it's just my personal preference. I don't think it was worth it in my opinion. I wasn't able to finish the bowl. I do want to say that the workers are very polite and I got good customer service for sure.
I know some rave about this place, I'm... indifferent. To be fair, the star is definitely the JFC Bowl. It's chunks of fried chicken, too big to be bite sized, but it goes well with the quantity of rice which is enough to be a pretty decent meal. And the fried chicken is nicely juicy and flavorful. The other items I haven't been impressed with, or they weren't as expected. Gyoza on the menu photo looked pan fried, but what I got was deep fried and while I looove deep fried, I had really been looking forward to pan fried. So that was... eh. Fluffy dog was kind of fun, the hot dog itself was surprisingly tasty, but the fluffy of the folded bun just resulted in a sloppy mess to eat. It even felt and tasted fluffy but sure didn't look fluffy. Hard to say this was worth the mess. And the roast beef bowl, if you're hoping this will fill the place of the recently dearly departed Red Rock Sawtelle... well, it definitely doesn't. It's quite meh, entirely forgettable, and can't hide the fact that the rice they use is definitely not top shelf.
The lines can get pretty long at this food truck located in Sawtelle but I stopped by on a Saturday early afternoon and there was no wait! The cashier lady was so sweet and helped me out with what was popular. I ordered the rice Benito, and karaage with rice. YUM! All super delicious! They even have this fun little spin the wheel when you pick up your food to win small prizes :
Just discovered this truck parked on Sawtelle and we decided to give it a try. We ordered yakisoba noodles and chicken karaage, both were delicious and flavorful. The price point was reasonable, the serving sizes were just right and their service was fast and friendly!
Gozen Express is the food truck offshoot of Gozen Bistro and focuses on casual Japanese fare ranging from kaarage don bowls and rice cakes and taiyaki and added a fun spin to the ordering experience. The kaarage $7) was well cooked chicken was tender and moist with a nice crust and the spicy Mayo was the perfect complement Rice cake bonito $2) was decent nice to have a warm thick rice cake with just enough bonito seasoning. After you order you can spin a game to win prizes. Mostly likely you'll win some rice cracker and hi chew but you could win a fun mask or a cool Gozen tshirt!
