The mushroom and eggs dish has a good smokiness to it and the eggs were poached well but the undercooked celery pieces really threw us off. Maybe a softer, eastern vegetable would've worked better? The bibimbap, which is one of the most well known Korean dishes, didmt even have gochujang sauce in it. The rice was mushy and the bowl that was served in was way too big for the serving size. I understand that modern twists/fusion dishes don't exactly follow the classical recipe, but it was far too different to be called a bibimbap. It had kale with no gochujang-based sauce and not even any carrots or bean sprouts. The sweet potato cake didn't have any sweet potato taste to it. We thought it just tasted like a vanilla banana cake that was dry and crusty. I think the best thing was the fried octopus, and I'm glad they at least know their strengths because they said that was their signature dish. For the course price this place really wasn't worth it for us.
Honestly very disappointed.I had high expectations but the food was so so not worth the price. Some of them were bland, some too salty. Food was cold when it’s supposed to be hot. Nothing special. The restaurant is tiny so you wouldn’t even want to go there for the atmosphere.Service was fine, but there was nothing memorable about it.It looks like this place is mainly for non-Koreans who never tried any good Korean food. I’m sure there are plenty of restaurants that do a good take at Korean fine dining. Just not this place.
My favorite items on the menu were probably the bibambap, octopus, and albalone. Nothing on the menu was super special in my opinion though, it was all familiar flavors. For example, one of the dishes had kimchi but the fermentation flavor tasted similar to Taiwanese kimchi that I have had and made before. Therefore, to me I didn't feel that the dishes were as unique or special since I could find those flavors at other restaurants (less high end and pricey too). The space was cramped too since we sat at the bar and since the room was pretty small, it was a bit loud. The service was also mediocre. I asked for water a couple of times and they only gave it after a while. For the price, I feel that service could be better for sure. The ingredient were fresh but for the price, I'm not sure the tasting menu is worth it. Apart from the abalone and octopus, I don't see there were any pricey ingredients used so I'm unsure why the menu is so expensive for what it is. I think other tasting menus I've had are definitely more worth it. There is a parking lot around the corner for the restaurant (valet only) or you could find street parking too since it's in ktown. Overall, I would probably not try this place again unless the menu drastically changed.
Kinn has the best customer service around. Aside from their product being absolutely stunning and always crafted to perfection the team over there is always going above and beyond to satisfy customers wants and needs.Thank you Kinn!
Everything was perfect. Glad I was able to have the experience before their last day. Once you finish a dish you just want more. I hope to try chef ki's food again.
