Let me first write about the good stuff. The receptionist tried to get us a room for an early check-in. But since all the rooms were occupied he couldn't help us out. Thank you for trying, Miguel. The room we got had a nice view of the mist covered mountains. The AC works well and it is hot all day. That's about all the good stuff there is about this place. It was all downhill from here. The Wi-Fi was barely there and we connected to it two times at the max. We were on the 3rd floor and it was non existent through our stay. The bathroom had a foul odor throughout even with the exhaust fan running all the time. The shower door was stuck and wouldn't move an inch and we ended up with water all over the floor. The TV reception is really grainy and pictures are barely visible. This issue was amplified further because it was raining mostly and we had to be tucked in indoors. Now for the icing on the cake of bad stuff. We decided to visit the Kep National Park and the Pepper Farm and decided to hire a motorbike. The receptionist mentioned that they offer bike rental services as well. We accepted the offer and got our bike in 30 minutes. We filled it with half a tank of fuel and headed to ascend the national park mountain. Half way through I realize the fuel gauge is rapidly lowering and I stopped and found out there is a major leak in the fuel tank. We decided to immediately descend and went back to the hotel and mentioned the situation and asked for a replacement. A couple of hours went by and there was no sign of the replacement yet. When they finally said it was 15 minutes away, it was nearly 5PM at a place where the sunsets early and it gets dark. Y There was no point taking it anymore. Mr.Receptionist was unapologetic and asked for the full payment of the motorbike. We had lost an entire day and money 5 for the rental $2 for fuel 2 for national park entry) because of this fiasco and were very unhappy. We decided there was no point staying at Kep any longer because we had lost an entire day already and moved our trip to Phnom Penh to a day earlier.
Yes it is a good place but far away from the local market. Away also from crab market. His own restaurant is non functional. So where we go for food? That's I change the hotel and comes near to the crab market.
We booked the accommodation in Feb 2019 and today we turned up at the reception and have been told there is a change of ownership. Our booking through AirBnB no longer existed. They said they are not responsible and we had to find the alternatives with 2 kids on the spot. Please don't book this accommodation. The place is run down anyway. We are very disappointed so please be aware.
The hotel in this price range is not to be overlooked. The room was very spacious, although the Wi-Fi had its issues, particularly on the second floor. The staff was friendly and the location was very convenient.
