Aep Thai - Kansas City

I absolutely adore this Thai cuisine! It's authentic and incredibly delicious!

I had an excellent experience at this Thai restaurant, which I believe is the best in Kansas City. The owner came by to check on us, and it was nice to learn about the preparation and ingredients of the dishes. I highly recommend this delightful Thai restaurant! We sat on wire benches at a table reminiscent of Playskool quality. The staff took the time to explain their socially conscious food sourcing and patiently answered our questions about unfamiliar ingredients. My husband ordered a beef curry that he described as reminiscent of meaty dog food, but he said it was good nonetheless. I had the chicken, which consisted of boiled, coarsely ground meat with a very salty and subtle seasoning. I could only manage a few bites, but my husband enjoyed it. I found the lack of sweetness in both dishes disappointing, as they were primarily just rice and meat. Still, it was a fun experience to revisit 39th Street and reminisce about our younger days, as Café Allgro used to operate in the same location. Those were the days!

Finally made it to this authentic gem! Diverse, and interesting, small menu. Had minor glitch with one dish, but flavors amazing! Bartender/waiter was SO helpful and timely. Outdoor patio upstairs may be getting busier as season evolves... Will definitely return! Not your 'typical ' KC Thai restaurant for sure!
