R J Barbecue - Kansas City

Small family business. Not what you would call 'KC ' style BBQ. Very mild smoke flavor. Sauce is slightly sweet. Not a large beer selection. Quiet off the beaten path place to stop.

During my recent trip to Kansas City, KS, I visited a BBQ restaurant that pleasantly surprised me with its Croat heritage. I ordered a turkey sandwich that had a wonderful smoky flavor and was incredibly fresh, served on a nicely toasted hoagie bun. The onion rings were also fantastic. I'm looking forward to going back to try their smoked sausage sourced from local ingredients! While the ambiance isn’t upscale, the food certainly makes it worthwhile. Be sure to stop by and greet them with a "Zdravo"!

This amazing locally-owned BBQ restaurant brings a delightful Croatian twist to its dishes. I've been a regular since childhood, and it never fails to impress. The food is incredibly tasty, and you’ll find yourself licking the sauce off your fingers! Their sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. The brisket is thinly sliced, and the ribs are some of the meatiest you'll find in town. This isn't gourmet BBQ—it's the kind of neighborhood eatery you can always rely on and never tire of. No frills here, just excellent food!

This restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere situated in a quiet neighborhood. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was amazing, particularly the pulled pork, which was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The BBQ sauce was simply perfect.
