Rail Bites - Kansas City

Staff was really working hard to manage a rough night...packed house with a convention in town and a few folks had not shown up for their shift. Everybody jumped in to get people served. Ribs and brisket were great!

We were the only guests in the restaurant for the dinner hour when we were there, so we got very attentive service by the server. The food took a very long time to be delivered, but once we got it, it was absolutely delicious. We were not in a huge hurry, so we enjoyed the wait by visiting. The ambience is a typical hotel dining restaurant where breakfast might be served, so not necessarily for a special date night, but it was fine for what we wanted, which was to find a good meal prior to attending a concert down the street.

My friends and I had a 5:45 PM reservation and when we arrived there was no one at the desk. After looking around for quite a while and server finally came and seated us. At the time she gave us our menus, we told her that we needed to be out of there to go to the Music Hall. She kept telling us that our food would be up anytime. At 6:40 we asked for her to bring out our soups. The rest of our food came at 6:50 and was cool. We were not the only people in there dining before the theater and everyone seemed very unhappy with the service. Needless to say, we will never return there.

Made a reservation at the restaurant. Showed up at the allotted time and there was nobody at the hostess stand. Stood there for 10 minutes and no one came. People sitting at a table that we knew said that they had been there for 45 minutes and had only gotten water and hadn’t ordered yet. We left. Probably shouldn’t have a reservation system because there was no computer at the hostess stand.

Please do not consider this restaurant. It was horrible from beginning to end. We waited nearly an hour for 2 sandwiches and a salad. The iced tea ordered when we ordered our food arrived in a paper to go cup as we were leaving. The beef tips sandwich was 50% slimy fat! Just terrible. Service was non existent.
