For my business trip to Schaffhausen, there weren't many hotels available (just a coupld of places in town had rooms and they were way too expensive for my allowable budget). I found this place on Google maps. It is an old structure (looks like a mini castle on the outside) and the room (basic double) is on the smaller side definitely aged but with charming character due to the furnishings. A big downside is no air conditioning and the late June heat made it very hot. The staff provided a fan on request but it wasn't sufficient. I had to open the windows at night and even then wished it was cooler. Despite the AC issue, the staff was very willing to please and assist. The continental breakfast was included in the room rate and was very substantial I only wished I had time to enjoy more of it (early business meetings). It is a short walk from the train station (about 8 10 min) and is best accessed using the foot\bike path and bridge over the railway tracks from the city side of the train station. The park across from the hotel offers space to do some exercising and walking in.
Loved our stay there. Max, Maria and staff were friendly, helpful and felt like family. Thanks again.
Location nice, Food very good, Staff excellent, the Hotel very original, nice breakfast
As guests, we dined in, and were impressed with the ornate-ness of this hotel, which provided for a wonderful atmosphere. The service was very good, as was the food and extensive wine selection.
