Now, there are few meat lovers in the northern part of the country would have not heard about the famous Puran Singh ka Dhaba in Ambala. I am no exception. It isn't everyday that I will make a trip down that highway and have get an opportunity to try out their dishes. And so, when all of a sudden I found an outlet open up in Faridabad, that very instant I knew where we will be having dinner that night. I do not really know if it is the same Puran Singh but it does say in the ads, menu and all over the restaurant that it is indeed the same. The restaurant is obviously very new (as on August 2016 and you can make out when you visit the place. Fresh paint, furniture has a new feel, the floor is shining, concrete work is very new and so many other signs. The decor is abolutely minimalistic with hardly a thing or two in the wall. They do have a TV though with DTH connection. Air conditioned with wall mounted swing fans keep it cool and you comfortable. Tables are placed well and there is a good space to move around (not that you will need to . The thing that surprised the hell out of me was the menu. Before we left, I did look up the menu in Zomato and saw just one page with very few items. Thought it was an error. But it was not. Really, the menu is very very limited. Vegetarians have literally 3 options shahi paneer and two daals. Non veg population stand a better chance with a bunch of mutton and chicken preparations. When asked the waiter did say that the idea of Puran Singh is mainly chicken and mutton. So the menu then made sense. Nevertheless, ordered the shahi paneer and mutton curry with butter naan, butter rotis and lacha paratha to dine in and keema kalegi and daal makhni to take away. The serving time was super low and we got served in express time : But in any case, the taste was absolutely fantastic. Served with onion rings, green chillies, lime wedges and green chutney, the food preperations was a gastronomic delight. At the end of it, there was absolutely no complaint in any aspect. The price tag is very economical. For the three of us, it came up to INR 715. If you are in the vicinity, do pay a visit for an excellent meal at a great economy.
Gone there with family......good so see 80% family Croud. Great food, same as Ambala , same chef , met him... he told me that spices used are from Ambala , best place in our city to come out. ..................
Ohhh what a mutton curry..... Amazing.... Delicious... Simple n light to eat... Without filling the table with other dishes, just ordered mutton curry along with roti and rice... a perfect family dinner... But they do need to keep an eye on their cleanliness ... Owner has not tried to make the place a dhaba style... A dhaba feel can make this place trendy...
I have been visiting puran singh da Dhaba in Ambala since my childhood. The mutton curry hasn't changed there since decades. And when your favourite food comes next door in ur city... Its a wish come true! I loved its minimalistic simple yet mouth watering menu. The taste is obviously different from the original but still tasty. The curry is amazing, hands just don't stop licking the spoon. My recom: mutton curry
