There was a special occasion on when we went which meant two large table of about 40 guests very very noisy found it hard to have intimate dinner as we couldnt hear each other speak, personally i think they should have put this party in separate room away from other guest.Meal beautiful service needs attention we were only attended to once, to order food n our drinks. Were not asked if we wanted more drinks threw out meal or how everything was. Overall pleasent restaurant
My friend and I were at Katoomba for 2 nights. We decided to have a go at Pins because of great reviews. We weren't disappointed... instead of entrees and mains, we decided to do 6 entrees between us (it was a lot but we did good ;-)) We thought the zucchini flowers, scallops and lamb cutlets were terrific.. the other items pork loin, pumpkin soup and mushroom and onion bruschetta were also good.. one remark was that all the entrees came all at once not allowing us to enjoy the evening at a measured pace..
My partner and I enjoyed the tasting menu, (I with some paired wines). This was a very swiftly executed, extremely tasty menu which comprised two starters, two mains and 2 deserts. The dishes were well presented, of a generous size and most enjoyable to eat. The paired grenache and ice wine I tried were delectable and enhanced the eating experience. The price was the most incredible part, the meal for two came to less than $200 with drinks, and not one of the dishes was merely 'filler'. It was a truly enjoyable meal with great service and a very modest price tag!
We were invisible for a long time after seated, no one came to our table. Even a few couples arrived after us were introduced to the chef specials. When we called the waitress, she gave us a blank look. We have to ask her what are the specials. The old couple sitting next to us also received such neglectful customer service. We didn't order the tasting menu. We ordered the popular zucchini flower for entree and the waitress told us it was sold out. Apparently they kept the zucchini flower for the people who order the tasting menu. The food was rather average. The restaurant was cold and nobody took off their jacket. The locals told us this restaurant is under new management. Very disappointed with this experience and will not go back again.
We stayed in the cabin, so booked dinner here on our first night. We liked the options of a la carte, or set menu, & chose a la carte. Our scallops, then lamb were both cooked perfectly, with beautiful flavours & lovely presentation. I chose the panna cotta for dessert & wasn't disappointed as it was absolutely divine!! The lemon sorbet also needs a mention & was very, very good too! We had a lovely evening meal, & would definitely return.
