We visited this location for the 1st time today for my birthday, it was well worth the drive all the way from Southeast Houston. I had the Fire Drill Burger, best burger I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Substitute Burger and he said that it's the best burger he's ever had. He had it with the Chili Cheese Fries. We came with our friend and he had the Homeroom Burger, he loved it especially with the Bleu Cheese Fries. The service was great btw. Next time we're in Katy, we'll be back. Also, I love their Strawberry Lemonade too.
Well Bernies's Burger Bus started off with food truck. Guess this is their brick and mortar store. I been wanting to try this place finally got a chance to. First the place is located next to the parking structure so that take care of parking. The place is decorated as a school bus scene that was a nice touch. The fries was awesome. I always judge the fries by its cover. If it does not look golden brown then most likely is not good, and hate to tell yall I was right. The fries was golden brown and it was Delicious. They have so many selections of burger and that by itself was a life changing process sort of speak. Any way the burger was juicy and when you bite into the juice went everywhere, that is the way I like it. The service was marvelous the server was friendly and willing to spend time to explain everything to me. Smiling faces from all the staff members. I will be back.......
I had heard great things about Bernie 's Burger Bus and maybe the anticipation lead to my high expectations. The burger was pretty average. I wouldn 't say there was anything overwhelmingly special about it. I had the Homeroom Burger with the truffle laced fries. Don 't get me wrong, it all tasted good but it just wasn 't anything special or unique. I can 't say that I will ever find myself saying I really crave a burger from Bernie 's Burger Bus .
We 've eaten at Bernie 's several times since this location has opened but have never gotten around to writing a review. The review is hard to rate because we know that the restaurant was once worth every bit of 4 stars but it 's appearing to go downhill, for a lack of a better word. The food is still tasty, especially the sweet potato tots with curry ketchup which are my go too but the cleanness and atmosphere of the restaurant aren 't what it used to be or could be. We arrived at Bernie 's for an unexpected dinner one day during the work week and we were 1 of 2 couples inside the restaurant. Instantly, my feet were sticking to the floor and you can hear it as you walk, in addition to the tables being sticky. This is not the first time this has happened. Being that there was an estimated 7 waitress/waitresses and two guests, I am not sure why anything should have been dirty, even if it was busy since it is a restaurant. It had appeared that an attempt was made to clean the floor and tables but with a lack of effort since it was sticky everywhere. In addition, I do not recall any music playing so the atmosphere was blah , meaning there was no desire to stick around and order a beer or dessert. Although we were not completely dissatisfied, we ate our food and left. On the good side, besides the food being good, our waiter was extremely friendly. Unfortunately, we threw the receipt away before writing down his name. Although the atmosphere and cleanliness lacked, the food and service was great. We know how this location was when it first opened and just feel that management needs to step up their A game a little and get this location back to where it used to be. We do however recommend stopping buy and trying a tasty burger and definitely the sweet potato tots with curry ketchup.
Bernie's Burger Bus is a very cool spot with a very friendly staff. The secret burger menu is a must try. I got the very uCheeto Burger and it delicious. The truffle fries were tasty as well. I hope that they come to Austin or San Antonio. I will try more burgers and fries in the future when I'm in the area. I'm glad that I stopped by for lunch.
