Black Walnut Cafe - Katy

I ordered the steak salad, and the meat was inedible. The salad was primarily made with kale, which was not enjoyable at all. This café has really deteriorated since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The menu was excellent, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was tasty, but my potatoes and overall meal were served at room temperature; it didn't feel like it was freshly made. I prefer my breakfast hot, straight off the griddle. Additionally, I didn't appreciate the tip option being highlighted when paying, considering it’s counter service where you order and pay at the counter. Other than that, everything else was good.

As someone who has recently been diagnosed with diabetes, I'm still figuring out what foods are suitable for me. The staff here went above and beyond to ensure that my meal was safe, delicious, and exactly what I wanted. It truly was all of those things. I wish I could remember the name of the woman at the counter who was incredibly helpful with my order, but I also want to give a special mention to Doug, the manager, for his exceptional customer service. I had an amazing experience and enjoyed some great food.

We've been there three times in the past few weeks, and I can honestly say it's my favorite spot! Every time, I've opted for the croissant breakfast sandwich along with a flight of mimosas, and I absolutely love it! My boyfriend enjoyed the Eggs Benedict twice, while my friend who joined us ordered the brisket tacos. He raved about them, saying they were fantastic and quite filling. The service has been excellent, with the waitstaff being very attentive. I can't wait to go back!

We decided last minute to go to Black Walnut Café for brunch on Sunday. The ordering process is a pretty rapid paste thing. You order at the register and then they will bring the food to you. While we were in line waiting to order another employee wasgetting the number of our party and assigning us a table so we would have a place to sit immediately after ordering. We orderedthe chicken and waffles basic pancakes the croissant and gravy and the spicy chicken Benedict. The only thing I wouldn?trecommend was the croissant and gravy it just had a weird sweetness to it and it was contrary to the savory flavors of a normalbiscuits and gravy and didn?t really hit the spot. We Also had the mint margarita which was refreshing and delicious. And themimosas which were premixed. The place was clean, very efficient, the staff was friendly, and will definitely be going back.
