Expected typical Lubys experience but was disappointed. I never expect a gourmet meal but classic food I've eaten all my life, decent and at the right temperature. I had neither. I picked liver and onions which I only eat once or twice a year. The service line ignored my request for gravy twice but I didn't want to hold up the line. I asked for sweet potato fries but got the casserole. At least the fried okra was correct and as expected. One of my favorites has been the jalapeno cornbread. This time and this location it was barely warm and barely deserving of the title jalapeno cornbread. It was plain cornbread with a small topping of jalapenos and other flavorful things. There might have been a single kernel of corn inside. I was afraid to examine it too closely. My liver and onions was hardly warm and dry. It really needed that gravy. It's never been that close to overcooked at a Lubys before. There were lots of nice onions though and the serving of mediocre liver was very generous for a Luann plate. The sweet potato casserole was tasty enough with a nice amount of pecans. Pecans were the best part of the fare at our meal since my dessert pecan pie was above average. The service was mystifyingly absent. No one checked tables in our section at all. Arthritis has disabled me so I had to get help to score more iced tea. I was happy with the tea but surprised to have it hoarded to control seconds. Maybe it was just an off day here but it was disappointing to see a nostalgic institution go so far down hill.
Pretty good usually, I eat here a couple times a month, and will continue, drive thru is a good option in a pinch as well
I love going to Lubys because everything is cooked fresh. I don't cook anymore, and this is the perfect place to get everything i want. Thank you for your service. Please don't ever close.
It's your quintessential American cafeteria. If you need to feed a family for a reasonable price and no one can agree on WHAT to eat? This is where you go. LoL It's long been a family tradition. Salad options feel a little light, but we live in a post covid world in that regard, I think. The staff here is quick and efficient behind the counter. There are staff in the dinning area ready to help and clear tables. Everyone has been professional and courteous any time I've visited and I've enjoyed my food. I'm happy this location survived their financial troubles of the last few years.
