Maika’i Hawaiian Bbq - Katy

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was poor, and the food was just average. When I ordered the "H2" BBQ plate, I was surprised to find that it didn’t include Katsu, as shown in the menu picture. When I brought this up to the cashier, she blamed me for the misunderstanding instead of addressing the issue. Instead of offering a solution, she just crossed out the picture and insisted that I must have misread it. There are plenty of places to enjoy Hawaiian cuisine, and unfortunately, the service here does not warrant a visit.

I visited the restaurant for the first time today and tried the Hawaiian BBQ mix, which was delicious and full of flavor! I would definitely return to sample more dishes. However, the Crab Rangoon didn't live up to our expectations, so we’d probably skip that next time. I was excited to see Lumpia on the menu, but unfortunately, they were out of it during our visit. Overall, I’m looking forward to coming back to try other items!

Honestly, a picture is worth a thousand words, and just take a look at all the photos. This place is exceptional! From the service to the quickness and freshness of the food, to the delicious flavors—it was all fantastic. I would definitely recommend making a stop here. Even if you’re not in the area, it's worth the drive. The staff member provided superb customer service and was incredibly patient. If you're new to the place, don’t worry—he’ll take the time to suggest some great combinations for you. Don't just read the reviews; you need to experience it for yourself—go now!

The food was excellent, and you definitely get your money's worth. The macaroni salad was my favorite, and the meat and chicken were juicy and delicious.

If I could give this restaurant 4.5 stars, I definitely would. The food is excellent! We ordered Beef Kalbi, Kalua Pork, Katsu Chicken, and Hawaiian Barbecue Chicken, which is also known as Huli Huli in Hawaii. The only reason I'm giving this restaurant one less star is because of the Beef Kalbi. Having lived in Hawaii for seven years, I've had a lot of kalbi, and it's generally quite consistent throughout the islands. Unfortunately, the beef kalbi here lacks the citrus and sesame oil flavors and is prepared on a grill instead of a flat top. However, the other dishes were fantastic! The service was excellent as well, and our food arrived quickly at reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place if you love Hawaiian cuisine!
